B’tutta [Australia]

Introduction

B’tutta is a Sydney Based percussion ensemble with 20 years of experience performing concerts to school students and adults across Australia and Asia.

Since 1995 this engaging percussion quartet has enthralled audiences young and old, giving over 3000 energetic concerts for Musica Viva Australia, the Sydney Festival and the Opera House Trust. They have performed to over 600,000 school children through the Musica Viva in Schools programme throughout Australia, toured Thailand, Laos, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

Versatile percussionists B’tutta plays in excess of one hundred different instruments utilising Mallet Percussion all manner of drums and voice. B’tutta performances embrace music ranging from the rhythmically intense to the reflective and thought provoking.

They have given Australian primers of works by Gordon Kerry, Daryl Pratt, Graeme Leak and Frank Zappa. Their repertoire incorporates contemporary Australian, traditional ethnic styles and group generated works and improvisations.

B’tutta utilises this colourful diversity as a vehicle to transcend musical styles taking audiences on a journey of Aural and visual delights.
