Art of Cantonese Opera

Introduction

Established in 2007 by renowned Cantonese opera artistic director and producer Danny Li Chi-kei, Art of Cantonese Opera is a non-profit professional organisation dedicated to the production of Cantonese opera and related projects.

Produced numerous classics as well as newly commissioned work including adaptation of Shakespeare’s dramas. Presented in New York, Boston, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.

Strives to preserve and advance the art of Cantonese opera by creating new approaches to the art form while preserving its rich artistic and cultural heritage, exploring new elements from other art disciplines to merge with Cantonese opera, promoting to the younger generation as well as expanding the audience, demonstrating a strong commitment in upholding quality to bring Cantonese opera to world-class standard, and conducting research and other projects to further the development of Cantonese opera worldwide.
