Vocal Recital By David Quah (Tenor) – Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin
Description
Description
“Vocal Recital by David Quah (Tenor): Schubert’s ‘Die Schöne Müllerin'”, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and with the collaboration of pianist Timmy Tsang, will offer an unforgettable night for music lovers this October.
“Die Schöne Müllerin” is a song cycle by Schubert based on poems by Wilhelm Müller. The work is considered one of Schubert’s most important cycles and one of the pinnacles of German lieder. German lieder are generally songs that were written from the mid to late 19th century using German poetry in music. Songs with simple melodies accompanied by piano were composed and often used to express the emotions of poets or for narration. The singing style of German lieder is more natural and approachable, completely different from the style used in opera.
