The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

Music Delight Series

Description

Description

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB) will visit Hong Kong for the first time and stage a concert in October. The concert will launch the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s “Music Delight” series.

The concert will be held at 8pm on October 5 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall. Eight “all-singing, all strumming” ukulele players will perform an array of songs, ranging from pop to rock and roll, jazz and movie themes. Members of the audience can also bring their ukuleles to jam with the orchestra on Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”.

The UOGB was founded in 1985. The performers have varied backgrounds but a complementary expertise, featuring strong individual voices and instrumental abilities. The orchestra has toured the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Norway, the US, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. The UOGB can transform all genres of music into a lively, headlong stream of transcendent and feel-good sounds that elicit a joyous reaction from the audience.
