STATE OF HAPPINESS

Description

Description

Most artists would agree their work is about arriving at a state of happiness, however torturous the journey it is getting to the results. Dark visions are reconciled at the end of art labour, and strife finds resolution in the articulation of Form. There are of course many artworks that simply glow with happiness and infect viewers with optimism. At times of public distress we can turn to art, and consult these visionaries of happiness.

This selection of works by artists as varied as Emily Cheng, Ju Ming, Gaylord Chan (here is a happy name for you!), Luis Chan, Xu Longsen and others, present a diversity of States of Happiness. From new iconography of the spiritual like Emily Cheng, simple happiness of the living world like Ju Ming and Chu Hing-Wah, spicy humour like Gaylord Chan and Luis Chan, love of the natural world like Xu Longsen, Yeh Shih-Chiang and Chimeddorj, to escapes into magical realms like Luo Yin and Uurintuya. There are multiple ways to step beyond.

Let us get inspired and be Happy!
