An Intangible Cultural Heritage as interpreted by the ‘Prince of Kunqu Opera’
One of the oldest theatrical genres in China, Kunqu was inscribed onto the UNESCO List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2001. Zhang Jun – a brilliant exponent of the art form dubbed “the Prince of Kunqu Opera”, founder of the Zhang Jun Kunqu Art Center of Shanghai and UNESCO Artist for Peace – will make his debut with the HKCO in two musical theatre evenings with famous love stories dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
