The Music Office Youth Choir (MOYC) and the Music Office Children’s Choir (MOCC) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will jointly perform in an annual concert entitled “Choral Potpourri” at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall at 3pm on December 4 (Sunday), offering the audience a programme of various tuneful pieces.
Dr Angelina Au, Lai Wing-yan, Yau Man-ching and Kobe Ip will be the conductors and pianists. The choirs will present choral favourites from various places, including the African traditional walking song “Obwisana (Goin’ to Ghana)”; “Georgia on My Mind”, which expresses reminiscences towards Georgia in United States; and the Finnish traditional folk song “Water Under Snow Is Weary”.
Furthermore, the choirs will perform religious pieces by prolific composers, including Gibbons’ “O Clap Your Hands”, Mendelssohn’s piece for men’s chorus “Beati Mortui (Blessed are the Dead, Op. 115, No. 1)” and Rutter’s Christmas carol “What Sweeter Music”.
