Description

Description

This is an adaptation of the last work of Spanish poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca. The story is about a tyrannical mother Bernarda Alba who keeps her five daughters under her inexorable control, reflecting the pressure of social norms on humanity. Her five daughters longing for freedom attempt to rebel against their mother’s dictatorship and end up in a tragedy. The play is presented in dance theatre form to explore themes of repression, passion and conformity.

“The vitality of dance blossoms alongside the poetic language of Lorca…the struggle of the human condition and the tension of the drama stretched beyond the theatre.”
–Information Times

“The rhythm of the drama flows consistently with the movement of dancers. This is probably the perfect integration of poetic theatre and modern dance.”
