Description

Description

Celebrating the 70th anniversary in 2015, Borodin Quartet is one of the most legendary quartets in modern history.  Its deep roots to classical music tradition and particularly the Russian repertoire started in 1945, when four students of Moscow Conservatory formed the Quartet and continued through the Soviet times, having closely and personally connected with great composers like Shostakovich and Prokofiev.  Through the decades the Quartet cultivates a broad repertoire of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Rachmaninov and Webern, with recordings of Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and Borodin become definitive interpretations.;In this celebration concert, the Quartet will perform its namesake work, the String Quartet No. 2 in D of Alexander Borodin, and Schubert’s single-movement String Quartet No. 12 in C Minor.  The concert will conclude with one of Dvořák’s best-loved chamber music, the Piano Quintet in A.
