School And Outreach Touring Programme: Seeing Is Believing

International Arts Carnival 2011

Description

Description

Prince Siegfried is hunting for his potential wife on Facebook. The profile of “White Swan” says “Pure-hearted and naive” and that of “Black Swan” says “Wicked but loyal.” Who is the real Princess Odette that the Prince is looking for? Can you help Prince Siegfried to unearth the essence beyond the superficiality? Is white always “pure” and black always “wicked”? Everyday, we see such a large number of visual images sent through mass media. Have these images influenced our perception of the quality beyond those images? Just like Prince Siegfried, have images framed our definition of good and bad, virtue and vice, pretty and ugly? How can we learn to “see” through the images before “believing” in them?
