Description
Following the two magnificent concerts held on 7 April, great friends of HKCC gathered once again at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 28 April. Along with around 2,000 members, the kaleidoscopic musical journey was continued, presenting to the audience two innovative and fulfilling performances.
Joining the performances were guests including singers Chen Chen and Louise Kwong, dancer Mohamed Drissi and the Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute, Dr Steve Ho (HKCC Composer in Residence) and world harmonica champion Gordon Lee, the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra under the leadership of conductor Rupert Woo, renowned Singaporean composer and conductor Darius Lim, Harry Wong (well-known host of children programmes), a cappella theatre company “Yat Po Singers”, and the Yip’s Children’s Choir with its Music Director and conductor Sincere Yip. Dr Yip Wai-hong, HKCC’s founding Music Director, also attended the concerts personally with his wife.
Besides HKCC members from different levels of classes (Elementary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior), “LACOV”, a choral jazz group from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts of the Education University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra under the leadership of Music Director Carl Choi, and the HKCC Alumni Choir also made guest appearances at the concerts. Subsequent to the afternoon concert as well as before the beginning of the evening concert, the HKCC Alumni Choir even staged two flash mob performances at the foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. They performed iconic HKCC songs spanning across years linked together in a medley, offering the sincerest blessings for HKCC’s 50th birthday using their voices.
