Description
Description
“The Mind of Literati: Brush and Ink in Chinese Paintings Documenta”, presented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department in Hong Kong and the School of Philosophy of Fudan University in Shanghai, and supported by Hong Kong Museum of Art and Pan Gongkai’s Art Studio, is currently on view for public at the Exhibition Gallery in Hong Kong Central Library until 6 December 2019.
Brush and Ink is not only the most exquisite expressive form of Chinese Painting, especially Literati Painting, but also the classic embodiment of Chinese cultural spirit. Since 2016, Professor Pan Gongkai, in collaboration with the school of philosophy of Fudan University, has considered Modern Interpretation of Chinese Brush and Ink as the crucial aspect for a modern interpretation of Chinese spirit and culture, and has been attempting to profoundly review and interpret the structure and significance of “Brush and Ink” in modern academic language by means of researches from contemporary philosophy, aesthetics, psychology, and neuroscience.
“The Mind of Literati: Brush and Ink in Chinese Paintings Documenta” will follow the principals of Brush and Ink, select historical literature and relevant classics on painting, sort and present the source, initiation, prosperity, and transformation of Brush and Ink in Chinese painting. The pictorial literature, though unoriginal, demonstrates spirits and wills and conveys personalities and lifestyles. The Documenta facilitates the appreciation of Brush and Ink and the understanding of the tradition of literati painting as well as the evolution of Brush and Ink.
Please visit this exceptional exhibition and explore the Chinese Brush and Ink for its humanistic spiritual value and future significance.
