Introduction

Formed in 1968 and with a discography of well over 150 recordings to date, The King’s Singers are one of the world’s most celebrated and sought-after vocal ensembles, Instantly recognizable for their spot-on intonation, impeccable vocal blend, flawless diction and incisive timing, the group delights audiences around the globe with their vast repertoire of songs ranging from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary classical. The King’s Singers have garnered both awards and critical acclaim, including a Grammy in 2009 for their studio album Simple Gifts on Signum. Deeply committed to creating new choral music, they hove commissioned over 200 works from prominent contemporary composers, including Berio, Maxwell Davies, Ligeti, Penderecki, Rutter, Takemitsu and Tavener. The King’s Singers have an extraordinary history of television appearances, performing at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall as well as on Songs of Praise. They have also performed at the Winter Olympics with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and in sell-out concerts at some of the world’s most famous concert halls, including the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. In addition to their packed schedule of performances, The King’s Singers share their artistry through numerous outreach activities, workshops and masterclasses.
